Overview of the quantitative glymphatic MRI protocol. After surgical implantation of an intracisternal cannula, the rat was placed in the supine position inside the MRI scanner and kept under anesthesia with a mixture of dexmedetomidine and isoflurane. First, the B1+ map was acquired using a double-angle experiment; then the precontrast T1 map was measured with a VFA-SPGR sequence, and 3 precontrast SPGR images were acquired. Then, during sequential acquisition of SPGR images, 20 μl of 13.5 mm gadoteric acid (Gd-DOTA) was infused through the cannula over 13 min 20 s, and SPGR imaging continued for a total of 160 min.
