Improved growth of ΔtonB revertants. Bacterial growth on LBA (A) or LBA supplemented with 40 μM FeCl3 (B) was recorded after incubation of petri plates at 37°C for 48 h. The bacterial strains used are as follows: 1, RAM1292 (wild type); 2, RAM2505 (RAM1292 ΔtonB::Kmr); 3, RAM2485 (RAM2505 revertant 1 [Rev-1]); and 4, RAM2486 (RAM2505 revertant 2 [Rev-2]).
