Control group shows no mucosal ulceration. Ethanol (Positive ulcer) group shows severe hemorrhagic lesions in the mucosa induced by the administration of 7.5ml/kg of absolute ethanol. Groups pre-treated with RK at a dose of 25, 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg or omeprazole (20mg/kg); one hour before absolute ethanol (7.5ml/kg); show marked protection against ethanol-induced gastric ulceration in rats. RK (50 mg/kg)-alone treated group shows no mucosal ulceration.
