The panels (A–F) show the results of different inoculation methods (top panels); (A) DM soil, (B) DM Sand, (C) pouring method and their respective controls in panels (D–F). Panels J,K are the associated negative controls using resistant accessions cv. Rose (J) and ‘Pahang’ (K). Plants inoculated with chlamydospores (G) or Maize kernels (H), also developed similar symptoms but the latency period differs from that of conidial inoculations. Plants shown were challenged with the highest inoculum doses described for each method. The negative controls were ‘Grand Naine’ inoculated with race 1 using the dipping method (I) and the mock (L).
