aThe periodontal diagnosis was established after oral evaluation and was classified as healthy (when < 30% of the periodontal sites presented gingival bleeding), gingivitis (>30% of the periodontal sites presented gingival bleeding) or periodontitis (presence of four or more teeth with one or more sites presenting PD ≥ 4 mm and loss of clinical insertion ≥ 3 mm at the same site).
