Ethanol and glucose concentrations were measured by HPLC (Strazdina et al., 2012). Acetaldehyde concentration was measured with Megazyme acetaldehyde kit K‐ACHYD, following manufacturer's instructions. For pyruvate determination, 100 L of the sample was added to assay mixture containing 500 μL of 0,1 M TEA buffer, pH 7.6, 375 μL of 74 mM KCl +20 mM MgCl2, and 15 μL of 6 mM NADH.
