Silhouettes of virtual avatars from four participants in the present study after they were aligned with the actual body dimensions in an intermediate step (inner outlines, dark red) and after they were made more corpulent (outer outlines; increase shown in light red). Avatar size increase was achieved using either a method preserving visuo-tactile congruency or using a method resulting in the loss of visuo-tactile congruency, but both procedures lead to identical increases in silhouette size in the shown body posture.
