dsRNase transcripts are abundant in aphid midguts, and dsRNase activity is high in midgut extracts. (a) Digital PCR showing that commercially synthesized Mp_C002_dsRNA levels in artificial diet remain high after four days even if aphids are allowed to feed on the diet suggesting saliva is not degrading the dsRNA quickly (‘4 + adults’; ANOVA, replicates = 3, p = 0.41).
