Calcium binding drives EFhd2 liquid-droplet formation. Human EFhd2 D105A/DH41A mutant was subjected to liquid–liquid phase separation in absence [–PEG) or presence [+PEG) of 10% Polyethylene glycol (PEG) as crowding agent plus or minus 10 mM CaCl2- The proteins were visualized by confocal microscopy.
