Groups of four mice were inoculated with a dose of 102 spirochetes of the following strains; (A) wild-type (WT), (B) btpA::PflgB-aacC1, and (C) btpA::aacC1. Blood was collected daily between days 3 and 14, and spirochetemic burdens were then quantified by qPCR. Numbers above the graphs identify the mouse in each of the experimental groups.
