Thyroid findings. Thyroid cysts were found in 16 infants, as in the right lobe of this 8-week–old male (a). An ectopic thymus, characterized by stippled echogenicities, was present in 14 children, as in the left thyroid lobe of this 8-week-old female (b). In one 4-week-old female, the left hemithyroid was absent (c), with the esophagus (E) in the thyroid bed.
