In absence of drug pressure, monoculture growth (solid black line) for both WT and M1 is significantly faster than all three co-cultures of 10:90 (dashed blue line), 50:50 (dotted red line), and 90:10 (dashed-dotted yellow line) mixes of WT:M1. However, when exposed to docetaxel, bortezomib, and afatanib, co-culture heterogeneity is beneficial to both cell types, conferring faster growth than in the monoculture case.
