Proposed model of polyP-induced tau aggregation. The binding of polyP results in large conformational changes in monomer tau, charge screening, and non-covalent cross-linking between monomers. These combined effects result in the acceleration of tau aggregation. Tau domains are colored as N-terminal domain (green), PRR (red), MTBR (blue), and C-terminal domain (yellow).
