Experiment 2. (ex vivo). PI3 activity, STAT3 immunoblot and IL‐10 levels in homogenates of the LV from the border zone in an ex vivo study. In a rat isolated heart model, n‐butylidenephthalide significantly increased STAT3 activity and IL‐10 levels compared with vehicle, which can be abolished after administering either LY294002 (LY, a PI3K inhibitor) or S3I‐201 (an STAT3 inhibitor). Relative abundance was obtained by normalizing the density of STAT3 proteins against that of β‐actin.
