Healthy koalas (N = 11) were sampled a total of 53 times, while koalas that developed cystitis (N = 5) were sampled a total of 19 times during this study. Using a mixed model ANOVA (to account for repeated measures) on the last 3 samples from each koala, total KoRV-pol expression levels (F[1,14] = 10.480, P = 0.006) and KoRV-D env expression levels (F[1,14] = 13.760, P = 0.002) were significantly different between healthy koalas and koalas that developed cystitis.
