Bacillus SLP induces the expression of inflammatory mediators in human retinal Muller cells. Expression of proinflammatory cytokines (IL-6, TNFα) and chemokines (CCL2, CXCL-1) from human retinal Muller cells (MIO-M1) was quantified following treatment with 10 μg/mL SlpA or PBS for 10 hours. The “SlpA” fraction from ΔslpA B. thuringiensis was used as an extract control. Figures are representative of at least four independent experiments. Relative expression of these genes was determined by RT-PCR using ΔCT method using GAPDH as a housekeeping gene. Data are represented as the mean ± SEM of gene expression relative to GAPDH expression. *P = 0.0286.
