Effect of 4-cholesten-3-one on the mRNA expression of LXR and its target genes in THP-1 macrophages. THP-1 human monocyte cells were first differentiated into macrophage-like cells by exposure to phorbol 12-myristate-13-acetate and then treated with 12.5 μM 4-cholesten-3-one for 24 h.
