Morphology and proliferative activity of isolated chondrocytes of a representative donor. Passage 2 (P2) chondrocytes were cultivated with the medium containing either human serum (HS) or fetal bovine serum (FBS), and the morphology was documented via phase contrast microscopy (left). The cells were further analyzed via staining of actin structures using Alexa Fluor 488-conjugated phalloidin (green, middle). The proliferative activity was visualized via indirect immunocytochemical staining of Ki67 (red, right). Cell nuclei were stained with DAPI (blue).
