Burst rate is higher for naturalistic stimulus. Fifteen LGN neurons were presented two different stimulus ensembles: one having a natural temporal modulation (Natural Stimuli) and the other having a random modulation (White Stimuli). Both stimuli were spatially uniform across the visual field. Each symbol represents results for a single cell under the two stimulus conditions. A, Burst rate, in bursts per second. B, The fraction of all responses that were bursts, in which a response is defined as either a single spike or an entire burst.
