HeLa cells infected with Anncaliia atgerae were fixed at different time points during infection and fluorescently stained with DRAQ5. A. ControlHeLa cells (no infection) with nuclei stained (N). B. Inoculated HeLa cells at day 1, nuclei (diplokarya) of organisms appear elongated (arrows). They are located both at the surface and inside of the host cells. C. At day 3 postinoculation (PI), parasites are inside the cells and actively dividing (arrows). D. Day 5 PI, host cells are filled with developing stages and newly formed spores. E.
