In addition to the coding regions shown, the transgenes contained 4.8 kb of 5′ promoter and 0.7 kb of 3′ untranslated region DNA. B, Effects of the transgenes. Indicated are the mutations included in individual transgenes, concentrations of DNA injected, and the number of Egl lines produced. Lines were defined as Egl if >20% of adults contained at least 30 eggs. When EGL-47 activity was increased, by overexpression or by mutation, egg laying was inhibited. Either isoform was capable of inhibiting egg laying.
