Theβ-gal gene is selectively expressed in NPY cells. A, Retinal section from a transgenic mouse that expresses β-gal under the regulation of the NPY gene promoter. The section was fixed and stained with a histochemical marker for β-gal, X-gal, which produces a blue product in the β-gal-expressing cells.
