Transcriptional activity correlates with TFIIH levels. a Sections of testis (Xpby/y mouse) showing seminiferous tubules were stained with either anti-GFP or anti-HA (DNA content as counter staining). In both images, TFIIH concentration (via XPB) follows the known peripheral-to-central reduction of transcriptional activity. Mature sperm cells in the lumen of the tubules only appear in counter staining (no detectable TFIIH). Scale bars 50 µm. b Plots of the total amount of mRNA versus the total quantity of XPB (green), p62 (blue), TBP (yellow) and RNAP2 (red), per nucleus (in arbitrary units) for Mouse Dermal Fibroblasts. N = 111; 72; 119 and 94, respectively. c Plot of the corresponding Spearman correlation coefficient between mRNA and XPB, p62, TBP and RNAP2 levels. RNAP2 and mRNA levels do not appear correlated
