A comparison of two types of shapes (rounded, collapsed) of GVs in immersion-fixed (0 mm Hg) and perfusion-fixed (15 mm Hg) eyes. (A) In both groups, there were a higher percentage of rounded GVs than collapsed GVs. However, the percentage of rounded GVs was higher in perfusion-fixed eyes compared to immersion-fixed eyes. (B) The rounded GVs were significantly larger in perfusion-fixed eyes compared to immersion-fixed eyes (135.06 ± 50.35 μm3 vs. 21.67 ± 7.83 μm3, P = 0.04). In immersion-fixed tissues, the collapsed GVs were larger compared to the rounded GVs, but the difference did not reach significance (42.88 ± 15.31 μm3 vs. 21.67 ± 7.83 μm3, P = 0.192). Similarly, in perfusion-fixed eyes, the collapsed GVs were larger compared to the rounded GVs, but the difference did not reach significance (261.47 ± 158.10 μm3 vs. 135.06 ± 50.35 μm3, P = 0.583).
