Characterization of striatopallidal IPSCs. IPSCS were evoked by stimulating the striatum as described in Materials and Methods. A, A representative set of traces demonstrating the voltage dependence of the IPSC. The peak current varied with voltage in a linear manner (B) and had an average reversal potential of -86 ± 5 mV (mean ± SEM; n = 4), a value that compares well with the calculated chloride reversal potential of -86 mV. Consistent with this, application of bicuculline (20 μm) produced a rapid and complete block of the IPSC (C).
