Time course of the effects of ethanol withdrawal on the abundance of GABA_A receptor subunit mRNAs in hippocampal cells. Cells were incubated first for 5 d with 100 mm ethanol and then for the indicated times in ethanol-free medium. The amounts of GABA_A receptor α1 (A), α2 (B), α3 (C), α4 (D), α5 (E), γ2L (F), and γ2S (G) subunit mRNAs were then determined by RNase protection assay.
