Peritoneal PMN from NOX2-deficient mice display increased apoptosis. Flow cytometry was used to determine the percentage of PMN undergoing apoptosis in the peritoneum 24 and 48 h after SIRS induction. Apoptosis was evaluated by annexin V staining for exposed phosphatidylserine and Hoechst staining.
