Overview of the flow of information and processing during a single fold of cross-validation (‘Zero-shot Prediction’ Section). Model performance is determined by fit of the predicted feature vectors: in the example above, the true target features are in the second position of a sorted list of neighbours. In this case with a total of seven possible images, this results in a rank of 2, and a CMC AUC of 78.57% (Cumulative Match Curve, Area Under Curve; see ‘Measure of Accuracy’ Section for details).
