The data represent the mean ± SEM of three rats per group. PGE2 or saline was injected into the lateral ventricle. Every sixth 20-μm-thick frontal section throughout the medulla oblongata was immunostained (see Fig. 1c) and examined for Fos immunoreactivity in serotonin-immunoreactive cells (Serotonergic) and serotonin-immunonegative cells (Nonserotonergic).
