Linezolid attenuates alpha-toxin-induced acute lung damage during coinfection. C57BL/6 mice were infected with PR8 and 7 days later were superchallenged with LAC or the Δhla mutant. Starting at 4 h after bacterial infection, all mice were treated with the antibiotic vancomycin (Vanco) or linezolid (LZD).
