AThe pH values from both “OFF PPI” and “ON PPI” therapy groups represent the mean +/− SEM from 12 patients/group (n = 12). Differences were considered significant between the two patient groups at p ≤ 0.05. The p values were determined using an unpaired two-tailed student’s T test with equal variance. Supplementary Fig. S1 depicts the pH of gastric fluid from each individual patient sample, with numerical values of pH listed in Supplementary Table S1 for each patient.
