Eight whole municipalities (Iitate, Katsurao, Kawauchi, Namie, Futaba, Okuma, Tomioka, and Naraha) were designated as mandatory evacuation areas by the national government. Hirono decided to issue a mandatory evacuation order to all of its residents at the direction of its mayor. Parts of three municipalities (Minamisoma, Tamura and Kawamata) were also designated as mandatory evacuation areas by the national government but they are not depicted as evacuation areas in this map.
