Biliary and intestinal cholesterol secretion in wild-type (WT, n=7) and CETP (n=5) transgenic mice. Male and female littermates were maintained on HF-HC diet beginning at 10 weeks and analyzed at 12 weeks of age. Mice were anesthetized and biliary and intestinal cholesterol secretion rates were determined as described in Methods. Bile flow (A) and average cholesterol secretion rates into bile (B) and intestinal perfusates (C) over the 90 min perfusion period were calculated. Data are mean ± SEM and were analyzed by two-tailed t-test. *p<0.05 The cumulative secretion of cholesterol from the liver (D) and intestine (E) as well as the sum for both organs (F) were analyzed by linear regression.
