Effects of retigabine on the KCNQ2–4 current–voltage relationship. Normalized current values were plotted against command potential before (○) and after (●) addition of 10 μm retigabine. To obtain normalized values, peak current amplitudes in response to depolarizing pulses from a holding voltage of −70 to +50 mV in 10 mV increments were normalized against the maximum current amplitude at +50 mV in control recordings. Retigabine shifts the threshold for channel activation and augments KCNQ current amplitude across a range of membrane potentials.
