In the presence of BzATP (30 μm;filled squares), terminals destained by 50% over 30 min. Pretreatment with oxidized ATP (100 μm;filled circles) or Brilliant Blue G (1 μm;filled triangles) completely blocked the BzATP-evoked destain. The BzATP evoked destain is significantly different from control, oxidized ATP, or Brilliant Blue G-blocked preparations.
