Effects of erinacine C (EC) on LPS-induced production of nitric oxide (A; NO), interleukin 6 (B; IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor alpha (C; TNF-α) in BV2 microglial cells. Cells (1 × 105 cells/mL) were pretreated with different concentrations (0.1–2.5 μM) of EC for 1 h, after which the cells were treated with LPS (500 ng/mL) for 24 h. Culture supernatants were collected and the production of NO, IL-6, and TNF-α was determined by an ELISA kit. l-NAME (200 µM) was used as the positive control. Values (means ± SD, n = 3) not sharing a common lower case letter are significantly different (p < 0.05).
