Methods	RCT: Individual patients randomised.
Participants	US primary care patients 20‐60 years with Zung SDS score >50 (n=96).
Interventions	Instrument: Zung SDS score. Int: SDS administered and score fed back, together with written indication of level of depression (n=50). Cont: screened, but no feedback (n=46).
Outcomes	Recognition of depression as indicated in case notes.
