Figure 4

Abundance of amino acid-derived metabolites in SLC6A19ko (red) and wt (green) mice in the postprandial state on diets with low (LP), standard (SP), or high protein (HP) contents. Amino acid-derived metabolites: (A) Phenyl acetate, (B) Indole-3-propionic acid, (C) Indole-3-lactic acid, (D) Indole-3-acetic acid, (E) 2-aminoadipic acid, (F) Cresol glucuronide, (G) 3-methyl-2-oxovaleric acid, (H) 2-hydroxybutyric acid and (I) Indole-3-pyruvic acid. Amino acid-derived bacterial metabolites showed an increase in abundance in SLC6A19ko compared to wt mice. The data points represent x¯±SEM (n = 5 per group). p-values were calculated by ANOVA comparing within-group and between-group variance of the diet effects (diet) and genotype effects (gene).
