Chronic antidepressant administration increases CRE-mediated gene expression in brain. Mice were administered saline, fluoxetine, desipramine, or tranylcypromine once daily for 14 d, and 6 hr after the last treatment β-galactosidase immunohistochemistry was conducted as described in Materials and Methods. Levels of β-galactosidase were scored as described in Materials and Methods.
