Chronic antidepressant administration increases CREB phosphorylation in brain. Mice were administered saline, fluoxetine, or desipramine once daily for 14 d, and 6 hr after the last treatment phospho-CREB immunohistochemistry was conducted as described in Materials and Methods. Levels of phospho-CREB staining were scored, and results are presented as the mean ± SEM of four to six separate determinations. *p < 0.05 compared with saline (Kruskal–Wallis).
