The IL-1β-induced impairment in LTP was reversed by dietary manipulation with antioxidant vitamins E and C. LTP was inhibited in IL-1β-injected rats fed on the control diet, but supplementation with a diet enriched in vitamins E and C (see Materials and Methods for details) reversed this effect. Dietary manipulation did not affect LTP in saline-treated rats. The data are derived from six observations in each treatment group, and SEM values are included for every 10th response.
