GABA attenuates the light response. Soma recording of receptor responses (toptrace) to 0.2 sec light flashes (bottomtrace) at a log10 intensity of −3.5 and a stimulus repetition rate of 0.4 Hz. Once every 30 sec a 0.1 mm GABA injection (1.0 sec pulse; 20 psi; middletrace) was timed to precede a light pulse by 0.5 sec. GABA reduced the light response from 2.7 to 1.8 mV, and the response recovered by 30% within 3.0 sec after the start of the injection.
