In gel shift assays of nuclear extracts (NE) from PC-12 cells, a complex was found that bound in a sequence-specific manner to the IL-6 GRE2 (arrow) as it was reduced by a 300-fold excess of wild-type IL-6 GRE2 but not by a mutated or an unrelated oligonucleotide as competitors (Comp).
