Placental tissue was collected from women with type 1 DM (T1 DM; n = 13), type 2 DM (T2 DM; n = 6), GDM (BMI < 30 (n = 6), BMI > 30 (n = 6)) and BMI matched controls (BMI < 30; n = 9) and (BMI ≥ 30; n = 9). Triglyceride content of each placental homogenate was measured using a commercially available kit and concentrations, normalised to protein content; bar – median. *p < 0.05 Vs control BMI > 30, Kruskal-Wallis with Dunn’s post-hoc test.
