One possible pairing configuration in an autohexaploid, namely ${\psi }_1$. $P_k^i$ denotes one allele present in homolog i for locus k in parent P. Notice that some allelic configurations, such as $\left(\left\{P_k^1,P_k^2,P_k^5\right\},\left\{P_{k+1}^1,P_{k+1}^2,P_{k+1}^5\right\}\right)$, are impossible to be obtained in this bivalent pairing. In this case, the homologs containing alleles $P_k^1$ and $P_k^2$ will migrate to opposite poles of the cell during meiosis I. Therefore, $P_k^1$ and $P_k^2$ will not be present in the same gamete.
