Alkylglycerols derived from breast milk are converted to platelet activating factors (PAF) in macrophages. PAF act in an autocrine manner to induce IL-6 secretion from macrophages, leading to JAK/STAT3 pathway activation in adipocyte precursors and promotion of beige fat development.
