Photoreduction of AgNO3 on the surface of photocatalytic ZnO within the pore of the silicate substrate ZnO·mSiO2. The 200-nm UV light induced an electron-hole charges separation within photocatalytic ZnO. The AgNO3 was decomposed and Ag+1 reduced to metallic Ag0 on the surface of ZnO. The limited amount of AgNO3 within pores of the substrate then caused limited growth of Ag particles.
