The increase in exocytotic efficiency is greater in cells with intact PKC activity. Exocytotic efficiencies for control (dark bars) and BIS-treated cells (light bars) was determined for first and second trains as total evoked increase in cell capacitance divided by total evoked Ca2+ influx. The time between the end of the first train and the onset of the second train was varied between ∼30 and 180 sec. The number of cells measured for each condition are reported above the data sets. Asterisks represent data sets (with and without BIS) that are significantly different as determined by a paired Student’s t test (p< 0.05).
