Strontium supports spontaneous synaptic transmission in the developing LGN. Sample histograms of sEPSC areas and IEIs for a P19 neuron recorded in calcium (A) are similar to those for a P15 neuron recorded in strontium (B). Traces are averages of 25 sEPSCs from each neuron. Strontium was as effective in mediating sEPSCs as calcium in both the younger and older groups.
