Stimuli were continuous except for gaps, 8–48 msec in duration, in which stimulus amplitude was held constant (tuberous) or set to 0 (ampullary) at ∼1 sec intervals. Stimulus beat rate or frequency was 20 Hz. Neurons were current clamped at −0.1 nA.Traces are the averaged responses to 4–8 repetitions of the stimulus.
